See the old wooden leg
Hangin' in the barn?
It used to be granpa's
But now he's gone.
The neighbor kids are there
The neighbor kids are there
Jenny and Heidi too.
Johnny's buggin' us all.
It's a real zoo!
Next thing we know
Johnny's flyin' through the air.
He meant to grab the wooden leg
But found his hand to be bare.
It must have been a thrill;
Johnny's first flight.
He landed on the wheel barrow
And gave us all a fright.

Heidi,
ReplyDeleteI remember the wooden leg! I also remember a swing your family had in a big tree next to the fence separating our yards. The swing was made from a metal ring and a long rope. We would swing out from the tree and circle back for a landing. Do you remember that?

Lana,
ReplyDeleteIt is REALLY neat that you remember many of the things I remember as a child. The swing was a tire swing. My father tied to a rope to an old tire in the old pepper tree on the side of the house closes to your property. I remember getting the wind knocked out of me by falling out of that swing. Many good memories.
